Arriving by Metro

Hangzhou Metro Lines 1 and 4 stop directly beneath the station concourse — follow the 高铁 / High-speed Rail signs and you reach the departure hall in a few minutes. Lines 6 and 19 use the East Square station instead: if you need them, allow about 7 minutes to walk through the arrival hall.

Signs in the arrival hall point the way to both metro stations.

Getting to West Lake

Take Metro Line 1 from the Hangzhou East metro station to Longxiangqiao — 6 stops, about 20 minutes — then walk about 5 minutes to the lakefront promenade. It is the fastest and cheapest way into the city centre.

Go early in the morning (before 9:00) to see the lake before the tour groups arrive; the water is calmest at sunrise.

Getting to Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport

Metro Line 19 reaches Xiaoshan airport (HGH) in about 40 minutes. Board it at the East Square metro station, which serves Lines 6 and 19 and sits about 7 minutes' walk from the Lines 1 and 4 platforms through the arrival hall; a transfer within 30 minutes counts as a single journey.

A taxi or Didi takes about 30–40 minutes and costs roughly ¥70–100 depending on traffic.
